Feedback for Promo Cards?

I'm in the process of sending out a new series of promo cards and would LOVE feedback from you guys! The cards are 4"x9" and will be printed on 16pt matte cover stock with rounded edges. I want these to be mailable as postcards so I have left room on the back for an address. (And blurred out my own address... come to think of it maybe I shouldn't have a return address at all.)

Here are the three back options, let me know which is your favorite!

1)

2)

3)(vertical option)

And here are the seven front options, let me know your THREE favorite as I plan on printing a few. Also, if there are specific images you think should be swapped in/out on any of them let me know!

1)

2)

3)

4)

5)(using photos rather than scans)

6)(using photos rather than scans)

7)(vertical option using photos rather than scans)

I think I like 1&2 for the back and 1,2,5,6&7 for the front... but I wanna know what you guys think. Thank you SO much, I appreciate any suggestions/advise that you can give me!

I vote 3,6, 7 for the front and option 2 for the back.

Beautiful work! People who receive these promo cards will be happy!

I like option 1 for the back and 1 or 2 for the front. If you went with option 1 for the front, it might look nicer to switch out the right image with another graphite drawing, so the middle is sandwiched by two graphite drawings and thus pops out a bit more. Having said that, if you went with that idea, as well as used option 1 for the back, there might be too many graphite drawings? Not really a bad thing, since the drawings are cool, but I would think you'd want to showcase your paintings just as much, if not more?
Basically, I have no idea what I'm saying anymore! But...food for thought, I guess.

Anyway, good luck!

beautiful all your work by the way :)

I love 2 for the back but the text box maybe not covering the girl.

i like 2,3 for the front, the photos look too off, and make me kind of confused as to why they are at angles, and distract me. i would like 4 if the images were more zoomed out, or just some of them for variety.

Well,

For the back, I like 1 or 3, 1 being my favorite. 3 or 4 are my top two for the front! I think 4 would be best because it shows your work well but it doesn't seem that overwhelming because they all go well together. Plus the colors in 4 on the front would be good with the colors with 1 on the back! I also agree about taking your address off of the card, hope if helps girl! :)

Oh COOP! Beautiful as always. I vote 1 and 3 for the backs and 2 and 3 for the fronts. I really like your drawings because I can tell you really enjoy doing it and it shows. You tense up a lot when you paint because want them to look finished, but still equally as amazing. So I would put at least one drawing in there somewhere. I like the idea of the angled shots but it gets a little crazy with them going all in different directions. Maybe some kind of system to the angles? All one or two ways? EH I don't know.
Love youuuuuuu

It all looks great - but I'd say 2 for the back - it flows the best and seems to have the best use of positive and negative space. I like the artwork used for #3 - but it is cut off, right? #2 looks more "complete" than the other two, nothing cropped and the eye is directed through the work much easier.

For the other side I like what Jules said, it should showcase both the drawings and the finished pieces as there are strengths to both. People love to see it when artists have great drawing ability (as you do) - this is a good example: http://muddycolors.blogspot.com/2010/11/most-mind-blowing-images-i-have-seen-in.html

I love all the awesome Illustrations! For the front number 7. Everyone has given some great feedback on that.

I just wanted to point out a few pretty mundane but practical design concerns; make sure it is actually mailable i.e. it follows the USPS regulations for a postcard/mailer. I've seen great designs be foiled by the USPS. You can get the post office to mail most things but they have some weird specs. They only accept certain sizes 4x9 is fine but they don't accept rounded corners it jams up their machines. Also the addresses must be in certain areas of the card (option 3 for the back would not be mailable for example) and it needs a return address. Also consider where the postage is going to go and also the barcode the machines will print and how that will interfere with the illustration.

Here is a link I found with some basic specs:

http://www.overnightprints.com/main.php?A=USPS

However don't take this as gospel and. You should take a mockup of your design to the post office and talk to a Mailpiece Design Analyst (MDA) ask if it meets their specs. Also if you go to a professional printer they will probably have a lot of experience in mailers postcards and can advise you.

Sorry to be so design nerdy but I know you want to make sure it will actually gets to where it's going

All of these look really nice together, which shows off how developed your color palette is. For the front I like #2, #3, but mostly I like the idea of using your photos instead of scans (to stand out amongst other promo cards), but I'd use the bottom 3 from #5 put with the bottom 3 from #6. I like the variety color and angle and think they'd go well together. For the back I like #1; it's nice to have a drawing in there to show process... but I might make the darks a bit lighter, so it's easier to write on.

I like 2 for the back, the bright colors have the biggest impact, but I second the motion of moving the text box to an open space.

For the front I like 2, 6 and 7

woah those are all lovely!
i like the number 3 for the back. but number 1 is cool too!

but im not really a fan of any of the fronts... although i do like seeing more stuff, so i vote for one of the photo collages...

ps. dont forget your interview... when you have time, perhaps once your cards are printed it will be a good opportunity to show them off :)

YOU GUYS! A thousand thanks! You are all so helpful and I really appreciate your feedback.

"Ila"- Baaah ha ha ha. I like me some titties, what can I say?

"Buerli"- <3 I agree, I like the photos too! I like seeing the texture of the paper and such... I made a new version where the photos are all angled the same way.

"AndrewLong"-Awesome link, I loved the drawing... mindblowing!

"Rory"- Goodness, you always give me such good advise! Things that never crossed my mind... despite the fact that they are of utmost importance to the utility of the final product. I will certainly be taking these down to the post office for a once-over before sending them off to be printed. Thank you again!

"Umbra"- Yes! I agree! I revised the photo one as per your suggestion, also being sure to use ones that all angled the same way. Much better!

"Kat"- I'm so sorry I forgot! I'll have it to you sometime tomorrow!

"Anthony"- You gonna stalk me now? Please? No really... please?

And a GIANT thank you to EVERYONE who took the time to comment and vote. You are all amazingly helpful!
