Camera Advise?
Lastly and quite unrelated... I've been wanting to buy a polaroid camera for shits n' giggles and I would love any advise you artsy-types out there can give me about what to get. I also love the color effects of cameras like Holgas and what-not... are there any polaroid cameras that have similar color effects? I'm tryin' to keep the price under 100$/150$.

I bought my mini instax camera for the same reason - shits and giggles. i recommend the fuji instax cameras, either the mini or the "wide," because you can turn off the flash as far as I'm aware. I have a polaroid 300 which is basically a rebranded fuji 7s, but the newer ones are cuter (check out photojojo).
if you're looking for the color effects on polaroids, i'd recommend just getting a diana f+ and the instant back piece you can buy separately to take instant images while being able to get all the freaky effects. check out lomography.com ;)

i have a polaroid camera, and since they stopped making the film, its been a pain in the ass! The only people making the film which fits my camera is the Impossible Project and their film is super USELESS and expensive. Often the pictures don't come out, or are too dark, then if you live in a humid climate, you have to store them with special stuff to suck out the humidity or they completely disappear.
i think if you google polaroids, you will find there are now newer versions. the film format is a little different, but i think if you are guaranteed to actually be able to find and buy film, then thats waay better.
good luck! polaroid is awesome when it works! I have a diana f too but have not yet tried it!. You can if you like build your own pinhole camera.. i did it a while ago, and if its shits and giggles you want, that provides plenty...
