Work In Progress

Here is "Copycat" in progress:

And here it is done, in full snaggletoothed glory:

"Copycat" is 9"x12" (~13"x16" framed), gouache on stonehenge mounted on wood, price TBA. It will be on sale/display at the Roq La Rue Gallery in the upcoming "Tiger Tiger" show which opens on May 14th. It should be a fantastic show!

And finally, the big acrylic painting I'm working on called "Fade" in progress:

Those are great! How'd your experimentation with the gouache over acrylic go?

Thanks friends!

Rick- Oh man, I wanted to try it on that big 22"x30" "Fade" piece but Jim Auckland (an old teacher of mine/master painter) said that over time the gouache would probably flake off because the acrylic will expand/contract with the paper but the gouache will not. I might still try it in the future on something really small where that wouldn't be such an issue. Thanks for remembering!

I'm glad you asked your teacher before you tried it on a serious piece. I had no idea that acrylic would expand and contract like that.

Dude, me neither. I'll probably still try it, but on something small.
